Gathr — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 May 2026
Gathr connects people in small groups (4–6) for casual, activity-based
gatherings and handles the coordination. This policy explains what
personal data we collect, why, and the rights you have over it. It is
written to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Enrico Manzi. For any privacy
question or to exercise your rights, contact:
enrico@letsgathr.app.
2. What we collect
- Sign-up details you provide: name, WhatsApp number, and optionally email; your interests, availability, age, gender, nationality/origin, and how long you've been in the city.
- Gathering activity: which gatherings you're invited to, your RSVP (yes/no/maybe), and whether you attended.
- Messages you send us on WhatsApp (e.g. your RSVP replies and questions) and the messages and photos you share in a gathering's group chat.
- A profile photo, only if you choose to add one in the group chat.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To match you into suitable gatherings and balance groups (interests, availability, demographics) — based on your consent given at sign-up and our legitimate interest in running the service.
- To invite and remind you via WhatsApp and to receive your replies — based on your consent to be contacted on WhatsApp.
- To run the per-gathering group chat so attendees can coordinate — based on your consent and our legitimate interest.
4. WhatsApp messaging
We send invitations and reminders, and receive your replies, through the
WhatsApp Business Platform operated by Meta. When you message us or we
message you, that content is processed by Meta in accordance with
WhatsApp's own privacy policy.
We only message people who have given us their number and agreed to be
contacted.
5. Who can see your data
- Other attendees of a gathering can see your first name and profile photo (if set) in that gathering's group chat.
- Venues receive only the size of a group, never your personal details.
- We do not sell your data and do not share it for advertising.
- We use Supabase (database/hosting) and Netlify (application hosting) as processors that store data on our behalf.
6. How long we keep it
- Your sign-up profile is kept while you remain an active participant; ask us and we'll delete it.
- Group-chat messages and photos are kept until the organizer clears a gathering's history.
- Inbound WhatsApp messages are kept to operate the service and respond to you.
7. Your rights
Under GDPR you can ask us to:
- access the data we hold about you;
- correct it if it's wrong;
- delete it ("right to be forgotten");
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive a copy in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time (e.g. tell us to stop messaging you).
To exercise any of these, email
enrico@letsgathr.app. You also
have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection
authority — in Italy, the
Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and the
"last updated" date above.
