Gathr — Privacy Policy & Terms of Use
Last updated: 21 June 2026
This page has two parts: the Privacy Policy and the
Terms of Use for the Gathr app and service.
Privacy Policy
Gathr connects people in small groups (4–6) for casual, activity-based
gatherings and handles the coordination. You use Gathr through our mobile
app and, for some members, over WhatsApp. This policy explains what
personal data we collect, why, and the rights you have over it. It is
written to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Enrico Manzi. For any privacy
question or to exercise your rights, contact:
enrico@letsgathr.app.
2. What we collect
- Account & profile details you provide: name, WhatsApp
number, and optionally email; your interests, availability, age, gender,
nationality/origin, and how long you've been in the city.
- A profile photo. When you create or claim your profile in the
app you are asked to add a photo; it is shown to the other people in your
gatherings.
- Gathering activity: which gatherings you're invited to, your
RSVP (yes/no/maybe), and whether you attended.
- In-app group chat: the messages (and any photos) you send in a
gathering's group chat.
- Messages you send us on WhatsApp (e.g. your RSVP replies and
questions), for members we contact there.
- A push notification token provided by Apple or Google, so we
can send you notifications about your gatherings. You can turn notifications off
at any time in your device settings.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To match you into suitable gatherings and balance groups
(interests, availability, demographics) — based on your consent given at sign-up
and our legitimate interest in running the service.
- To invite and remind you, by app notification or WhatsApp, and
to receive your replies — based on your consent to be contacted.
- To run the per-gathering group chat so attendees can coordinate
— based on your consent and our legitimate interest.
- To keep the service safe — we act on reports and blocks (see
§5) based on our legitimate interest in a safe community.
4. Notifications & WhatsApp messaging
We send invitations and reminders as app push notifications and, for members we
haven't moved to the app, through the WhatsApp Business Platform operated by Meta.
Push delivery is handled by Apple, Google and our notifications provider (Expo).
WhatsApp content is processed by Meta in accordance with
WhatsApp's own privacy policy.
We only message people who have given us their number and agreed to be contacted.
5. Who can see your data, and keeping it safe
- Other attendees of a gathering can see your first name and
profile photo, and the messages you send in that gathering's group chat.
- Venues receive only the size of a group, never your personal
details.
- Reporting & blocking. You can report or block another
member from inside the app; reports come to us so we can act on them.
- We do not sell your data and do not share it for advertising.
- We use the following processors that store or transmit data on our behalf:
Supabase (database/hosting), Netlify
(application hosting), Expo (push notification delivery), and
Apple / Google (app distribution and push
transport).
6. How long we keep it, and deleting your account
- Your profile is kept while you remain an active participant.
- Group-chat messages and photos are kept until the gathering's history is
cleared.
- Inbound WhatsApp messages are kept to operate the service and respond to you.
- You can delete your account at any time from inside the app
(Profile → Delete Account), which removes your profile and personal data. You can
also ask us to delete it by emailing
enrico@letsgathr.app.
7. Your rights
Under GDPR you can ask us to:
- access the data we hold about you;
- correct it if it's wrong;
- delete it ("right to be forgotten");
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive a copy in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time (e.g. tell us to stop messaging you).
To exercise any of these, email
enrico@letsgathr.app. You also
have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection
authority — in Italy, the
Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and the
"last updated" date above.
Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of the Gathr app and service, provided by
Enrico Manzi ("Gathr", "we", "us"). By creating a profile or using
the app, you agree to them.
1. Who can use Gathr
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding
agreement. You agree to give accurate information and to keep your account details
up to date.
2. What Gathr does
Gathr matches you into small groups for in-person gatherings and provides a group
chat to coordinate. Gatherings take place in the real world, organised between
members; you attend at your own discretion and are responsible for your own
safety and conduct. Gathr is not a party to, and is not responsible for,
what happens at a gathering.
3. Community rules
You agree not to:
- harass, threaten, impersonate, or harm other members;
- post content that is illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or infringes others'
rights;
- use Gathr for spam, advertising, or any unlawful purpose;
- misuse the service or try to disrupt or access it in unauthorised ways.
You can report or block any member from inside the app. We may
remove content, and suspend or terminate accounts, that breach these rules.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the photos and messages you share. You grant us a limited
licence to host and display that content to the other members of your gatherings
for the purpose of running the service. Don't share content you don't have the
right to share.
5. No warranty & limitation of liability
Gathr is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that
you'll be matched, that gatherings will happen, or that other members are who they
say they are. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any
indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Gathr or attendance at a
gathering. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
6. Ending your use
You can stop using Gathr and delete your account at any time (Privacy Policy §6). We
may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms.
7. Changes & governing law
We may update these terms; the "last updated" date above reflects the current
version. These terms are governed by the laws of Italy, and the
courts of Padova have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights
you have where you live.
